Meet Quentin

Mayor Hart was born and raised on the Northside of Waterloo. His father worked for John Deere for 33 years and his mother worked at Allen Hospital for more than 30. Quentin did the math once, in those 30 years, his mom crossed the street more than 19,000 times going to work and coming home again. Because that’s what we do for our families and for our communities.

That faith in hard work and community led Quentin to earn his Master’s Degree in higher education, and to work at Hawkeye Community College for 15 years. That same faith and strength that helped his mother make those 19,000 trips led Quentin to seek elected office and fight for his community. Today, he is Mayor of his hometown. Under his leadership, Waterloo is growing and coming out of the global pandemic ready to move forward.

What we’ve done.

Mayor Hart has worked tirelessly to bridge divides in our city. He helped to create public-private partnerships and secure millions of dollars in investments to revitalize neighborhoods and strengthen our economy. Under Mayor Hart’s leadership, Waterloo has formed new connections with businesses and local institutions, building new homes, increasing our revenue base, and expanding access to affordable housing. With these partnerships and more, Waterloo is well positioned to keep projects like the Waterloo Convention Center, LSB at TechWorks, the Lost Island Theme Park, and others on track, growing our community and bringing new people and new revenue to our city. Thanks to Mayor Hart, Waterloo has come a long way building bridges to unite our community and strengthened our city.

What we’re going to do.

Waterloo has made real progress in the past 4 years. Strengthening economic development, empowering neighborhoods, keeping our streets safe, and creating a collective vision for the future. Waterloo is growing and coming out of the global pandemic ready to move forward. Mayor Hart is committed to increasing access to affordable broadband internet, creating a more interconnected community. He is dedicated to ensuring that economic progress spreads throughout the entire community by bringing more businesses to Waterloo and creating more jobs for Waterloo residents. It’s time to increase collaboration, to partner with workers and citizens to grow our economy, and to build bridges that will unite our community.
